Well, I've been tweaking some code. Nothing that you'd really notice. I noticed that my guestbook got deleted. Apparently, I accidently violated Bravenet's terms of service. Seems like they don't like it when their membership emailers are reported to Yahoo! Mail as spam... heh... accidents happen... So, I'm sure it was a complete accident that they deleted my service account. So, all *four* of the guestbook entries are lost and gone forever...
So, now what? Well, I added a *NEW and IMPROVED* Guestbook with *ALL NEW QUESTIONS!!* Please feel free to sign in. Also, I added a guestmap so you can pinpoint exactly where you live (I promise I won't stalk you). Scroll around until you see the button on the sidebar to your left... What fun!!

How YOU doin'? Well, I suck
I specifically avoided the big premiere of the Friends' spinoff, Joey. If you want to see if a show is any good, watch the second episode. The second episode will give you a much better idea as to where the show is heading, how good the writing is, if the show is any good.
So, I tuned into to NBC last night 8p/7 central. And was highly disappointed. The plot of this episode involved Joey trying to teach the nephew he lives with about picking up chicks. But, the nephew's mother, Joey's sister, dropped in just before they were about to hit the bar scene. She wanted to go with then, even saying, "I make a great wingman." What kind of mother offers to help her son pick up chicks?
Let me put this plot in perspective. This would be like my wife going out with her brother and her son. Ask yourself, can you really see that happening? In the show, it was treated like they just didn't want to hang out with her. They didn't address how un-cool it would be for the kid to be out with Moms. I'm sorry, I know it's a sitcom, but how about a little bit of realism.
Plus, the jokes are lame. In fairness, I can't remember them, but that alone should be a good sign at how this show sucked. You can only take Joey's stupidity for so long before you just don't care about the character anymore. That's why he was great in Friends. You had 5 other people you could care for.
In Indianapolis, the first episode pulled in a nice 18.1 in the ratings. Many people didn't return to the second episode as it pulled a 13.2. That's quite a drop-off for a show that's expected to anchor Must See TV Thursdays. It'll be interesting to see how the third episode does in the ratings. Despite how much it sucked, I imagine Joey will survive at least through one season. I can't see NBC admitting it fucked up Thursdays so quickly.
In defense of Joey, really how much of a chance did it have? Spin-offs don't work well with a major character from the original show. You might say what about Frasier? But, the character in Cheers was hardly a major one. Cheers was all about Sam and Diane or Rebecca. In all sincerity, I think "Gunther" or "Frank, Jr." would have been 100 times better than Joey.

Sexy Defined
I've seen her in countless movies from Footloose to L.A. Story. Not having cable, I completely ignored her on HBO. I never noticed her before.
Now, Sarah Jessia Parker graces my TV via the new Gap commerical with Lenny Kravitz (figures, it would take Lenny to get me to notice.)
In that commercial, Sarah, you define Sexy.
Mrs. Broderick has quickly jumped to #2 on my list of "*Women Who Define Sexy That I Never Want To See Naked Or Sleep With." She comes very close to topping Liz Phair. But, Liz kissed me, and that'll win out every time.
*Note: It's not that I would turn down the opportunity to see the women on this list in a naked capacity or sleep with them, necessary. It's that the reality could never live up to the fantasy. So, I'd rather keep the dream.

A Re-birth
A few weeks ago, someone gave me a small copy of The Gospel of St. John. After having a conversation or two backstage during the show, she thought I could use it. Now, if you've been around me or read this 'blog before, my reaction will probably surprise you. No, I didn't just smile and say "Hey, thanks" and tucked it away never to be read again. I was genuinely moved by this. And that completely surprised me. Imagine that... The gift of the Word of God moving me.
I thanked her for the present. So surprised at my reaction, I couldn't find appropriate words. "Thanks, this was... so... um... nice, to use the worst possible word," was my completely understated reply.
It took me about three days to read it. It probably would have taken less time, but I kept going back over passages to make sure I understood their meaning. Several times, I was moved to tears of both joy and sorrow. Particularly, John 6:35-37:
Why these verses? Well, let's just say that I haven't "believed" and now I'm starting to. How amazing is it that JC won't reject and still loves a sinner like me?
After reading John, I emailed the person who gave it to me, as I had some questions. I told her that I thought I felt God calling to me a few times but I wasn't listening too well. I said that I couldn't quite explain the feeling, but that I suddenly felt comforted at a moment of ultimate sadness. While I couldn't quite explain the feeling, I told her I had no doubt she knew what I was talking about. Let me tell you, it's a completely amazing thing to tell someone "God speaks to me" and they don't give you funny looks but know what you mean. She told me that (yes, it sounds kinda hokey, but work with me here for a bit) the Holy Spirit had moved her to give me her gift.
The truth is, folks, I've been quite lost for a long time. For the past two or three years, I've slowly started to realize that. I thought that maybe I had figured out who I was, what I wanted, what my role in life was. Now, I'm not so sure. I'm even less sure of exactly what God's plans for me are. But, I have decided to put my complete faith in him and Jesus Christ, too. The emptiness in my life is very scary, but I do believe God and JC are giving me the strength to get through it.... to find myself, to be happy...

Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who belive in me will never thrist. But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me. However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.

Times, they are a-changing
I don't expect anyone to understand this at all. But, I feel God calling out to me. I have recently begun to feel his and JC's presence in my life and I think I'll be answering his call. Presently, I'm not quite sure what that entails. But, when God says wants you to do something, you do it.
"JC," yeah that might sound corny or even a little sacrilege to some. But, you have to understand where I'm coming from. I figure if Andrew Lloyd Webber can call him "JC," then, the guy must be ok with that. You know, I don't think he cares what you call him, as long as you call...
